Abstract
  • The thesis contends that a religious institute can be assisted by a facilitator to contextualize the power of its gift within its general chapter. Working within the Catholic tradition the study utilizes the Whiteheads' methodology and engages charism, general chapter, and facilitation ministry in dialogue with a 'thick description' (Browning) of a multicultural general chapter. Evidence emerges to indicate that attentiveness to the dynamism of charism through facilitation postively influenced the general chapter's through conflict to communion. The thesis offers guidelines to assist facilitators in contextualizing charism's dynamism.
