Abstract
  • Using a review of the relevant literature, along with a case study, the author defended the thesis that it is both possible and practical to use spiritual direction as a component of clinical member care for international missionaries. He traced the historical development of member care in mission organizations, described its current context, and presented the need for spiritual direction. The research included a history of Christian spiritual direction and presented the characteristics of some current models. The author developed a theology and methodology of both spiritual direction and member care. A case study showed the practical application of the thesis.
