  • This project explores the function and role of the black preacher in public relations in the black church. An analysis of public relations in its secular context provides an understanding of the content and history of this art. Writings on the black church provide insight into the historic roles of black preachers in public relations. Contemporary public relations materials were gathered through questionnaires and personal interviews with churches and pastors. The black pastor is pinnacle in the operation of the church through analyzing and sharing feedback. By congregational acceptance of the person and pulpit, the black preacher functions as public relations person in the church.
