Abstract
  • This project offers a four-session counseling process to be used by pastors and churches for preparing families for remarriage following divorce. The process, designed for both the remarrying couple and their custodial and non-custodial children, requires a pastor as well as a lay counselor who works primarily with children. It culminates in a uniquely personal remarriage ceremony planned and participated in by the entire family and the pastor. This project, involving 17 families, also offers pastors and churches scriptural and theological considerations regarding divorce and remarriage; stepfamily characteristics and needs; and counseling tools, including a children's workbook and workbook of liturgical resources.
