- The study explores work and the present economic crisis from a theological perspective. It relates its findings to a church which exists in an individualistic society, but which is committed ethically to becoming more community oriented. The project describes five phases of development: 1) the establishment of a congregational unemployment task force; 2) the involvement of the Butler Unemployment Task Force (BUTF); 3) the incorporation of human resource agencies; 4) action taken by the BUTF on behalf of unemployed and underemployed; 5) the incorporation of the wider church. The study reveals that a group of clergy and civic leaders can join together to establish a community task force to help the unemployed.
