  • Reception of sacraments presumes the communicant's prior commitment of faith, but before that must have come proclamation of the gospel. For the Episcopal Church with a catholic heritage, this presents the opportunity for evangelism in proclamation, catechesis and worship. One form of proclamation is the evangelistic call. The project consisted of reporting on evangelistic calls that were unstructured and person-centered. The conclusion is that such a call can become a faith-sharing experience, providing the person an opportunity to express a commitment of faith and belief, necessary for Christian nurture to continue in catechesis and the sacraments.
