  • This project used three modes of research: the descriptive, the explanatory and the diagnostic. The study begins with an examination of the evolution of the Baptist faith. It depicts the eventual separation within the group between the Arminians and the Calvinists. Out of the Arminian camp develop the Free Will Baptists. The project analyzes the internal articulations and variations of the Free Will Baptists as well as their relationships to other Baptist groups. Chapter two provides a methodology and a theory which accepts the doctrine of free will as the point of departure in the movement's theology. Chapter three considers the predictability, function and process of this doctrine in the Free Will Baptist movement.
