- This thesis examines the impact of hope in the promotion of physical health. The relationship of mind to body and individual to family, together with the emotions of helplessness and hope are explored. The methodology employed was studying anecdotes and scientific research on the 'mind/body connection' and CPE verbatims compiled in hospital cancer wards, leading a bereavement support group, attending seminars on healing and on church and family systems, reading family system theorists' writings, pastoring a church, and reviewing theological essays on Christian hope. This research suggests that a discernable and direct relationship between physical health and hope exists. Additionally, the Christian pastor and church family can assume stances that promote physical health.
