  • The purpose of this practicum/project is to determine the correlation between one's spiritual discipline habits and his/her attitude and approach to ministry in the local church. I will also determine if clergy morale and the burn-out rate are directly related to whether or not one has a committed and disciplined spiritual life. The project compiles information collected from an anonymous survey distributed among local church clergy in the Central Texas Conference. The practicum/project was begun in January, 2005, after the survey had been created the previous November. Surveys were collected over a six week period and then the information was tallied over the next three months. Those completing the requested information were told verbally or in writing that it was an anonymous survey and they were not to sign it anywhere on the three-page questionnaire. The goal of the survey was to determine if clergy are practicing spiritual discipline habits and whether or not they are cynical or encouraged about ministry in the local church.
