Abstracto

As rector of a working class parish, the author encountered hundreds of people who came to him, as pastor and friend, in the throes of an acute or unresolved state of loss. The goal of the project was to lead and assist the church in developing and implementing a multifaceted approach to grief ministry to attend to the needs of grieving people within and outside of the parish community. The project involves educational, pastoral care and liturgical components. Its objective was realized, in reaching out to the grief-stricken on a cognitive, emotional, and spiritual level, to enable them effectively to cope with their grief.
