  • This ministry research project examines the relationship between the disciplines of theology and psychology through a correlational design intended to assist a dialogue between these two disciplines. The grief model of Wayne Oates and the life-cycle model of Erik Erikson are used along with selected Scripture from Psalms 13 and 27 and Lamentations 3. Chapter two reviews the creation of man and woman, as told in Genesis, and offers an interpretation of God's intention for their relationship, which humans have aborted. Chapter three examines the disciplines of the psychosocial sciences with particular focus on Erikson's life-cycle task for the young adult's struggle to develop from isolation to intimacy. Chapter four explores the work of Heinz Kohut and Soren Kierkegaard, and Tommy King to propose, in chapter five, a correlational model of grief for Christian young adults who experience divorce. Chapter six suggests areas of interest for further study.
