Abstract
  • American missionaries need better systems of training for service on mission fields. This project proposes that the example of church planting by training a national to pastor a new church, coupled with biblical analysis of discipling, yields a pattern for leadership training. Theories of nonformal education from the fields of psychology and education reinforce nonformal training on the field. Internship as developed in this project involves one year of learning language, culture, and religions integrated into responsible planting of a church. Mission subjects tuaught include anthropology, interpersonal relationships, world religions, cross-cultural communication, and church planting. Holistic training includes spiritual, cognitive, affective, and psychomotor elements.
