  • The thesis of this project is that laity can be taught leadership skills. A Lenten study for key laity in a small congregation is the vehicle for demonstrating and teaching the basic discussion model. An action oriented format for small group spiritual development contains reduplicable units for inductive Bible study, cooperative literature study, and pictorial journal writing. The journey of adapting the program to congregational realities is a study in conflict management and use of a consultative style of pastoral leadership. An annotated bibliography cites secular and religious resources in management techniques, group planning methods, and team building strategies.
