Abstracto

This discovery project set out to find the common mistakes made by clergy in rural congregations. Ten Likert statements and three survey questions were designed to discover the mistakes that, destroy trust, prevent unity, and inhibit change. The discovery survey revealed nine common mistakes, the greatest of which was behavior which caused a lack of trust. the two methods of collecting data revealed inconsistencies in congregant responses between the Likert statements and the survey questions. Negative examples demonstrating causes of mistrust outnumbered positive examples which promoted trust. lack of trust in clergy not only prevents unity, it inhibits change.
