Abstracto

This project investigated the necessity and practice of disciplined, pastoral oversight of formal, local church membership in the discipleship of God's flock. Biblical and historical moorings of church membership were examined, particularly the exercise of corrective church discipline. Means were sought for the skillful oversight of church membership and for the propagation of an environment which nurtures congregational appreciation for it. This project included a descriptive, qualitative analysis of the results of five elders' meetings and a series of eight sermons calibrated to improve the practice of, and heighten appreciation for, the oversight of church membership in the assembly.
