  • This project understands meaningful church membership as a three-dimensional model of beliefs, behaviors, and a sense of belonging. Research in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church indicates that a sense of belonging is related to the age of the member. While 90 percent of those above age 65 claimed a strong loyalty and attachment to the church, only 65 percent of those below age 45 expressed a sense of belonging. To promote feelings of belonging, the project presents belonging enhancement programs ranging from an annual day of membership rededication to a covenant concept of renewable membership.
