Abstrait

This project is the author's effort to provide the congregation council, other lay leaders, and members of Advent Lutheran Church, Arlington, Texas, with a spiritual foundation for participating in the ministry of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The church belongs to Jesus Christ and therefore all functions of the church must be built on a foundation rooted in spiritual disciplines of faith. The four phases of the project included a congregation council leadership training program, a retreat on spirituality for congregational leaders, a seminar to train leaders in prayer disciplines, and a program of small group studies on spiritual issues. The project reflects on the nature of spiritual growth in the Lutheran church and encourages greater participation in spiritual growth within the local congregation.
