  • This project/dissertation explains how the concept of empowering senior laypersons to be pastoral caregivers in their own congregation and community was transformed to a truly collaborative ministry where senior transceivers, lay and clerical, became partners with the pastoral care team of St James-Bond United Church (Toronto, Ontario). It describes an exercise in thematic analysis through a collaborative approach using free association and life review. It explores the application of the theological concept of synergy as the dialectical, integrating and empowering principle through life experiences, theologies of ministry and pastoral praxis progress teleologically.
