- The purpose of this project was to use storytelling as a means of encouraging church members to reflect upon their Christian identity. It was hoped that the process would enhance personal growth for the participants. The author shared stories for twelve weeks on Wednesday evenings with the congregation. Members of the congregation would then divide into small groups and reflect upon the story. Three instruments were used as pretests and posttests: the Myers-Briggs type indicator, the Tennessee Self-Concept, and the Bem Sex-Role Indicator. Chapter 2 looks at biblical storytelling. In chapter 3 the focus is upon the ways that storytelling can help individuals to change. The fourth chapter assesses the testing instruments. The last chapter is an evaluation of the project and offers suggestions for future ministry. There was evidence of change and community building. Storytelling was an effective tool for ministry.
