  • The thesis of this work is, if the church in Liberia can build into its life an acceptable understanding of ancestors, Christianity will more easily be accepted as a religion that includes all aspects of life. To test it out, the author reviewed theological studies, interviewed people from a local church, and had dialogue with pastors in a district. On the basis of this material a Bible study about ancestors and a worship service which includes ancestors were developed. The study found a mixed attitude among both African Christians and western missionaries towards including ancestors in the religious life of the church.
