  • This project seeks to recover the doctrine of the ascension as an agent for transformation. After establishing the need, it turns toward developing a concise theology of Jesus' ascension in the flesh, exploring the nature of the ascension event to the theological meaning of Jesus' triumph, and then the place of the ascension in securing a proper understanding of the person of Christ. The implications of Jesus' ongoing incarnation are then explored. The paper offers five models for deploying the doctrine in the local church, both for education and mission, and then evaluates their effectiveness.
