  • The purpose of this project was to test a method of relating the biblical text to the needs of the twentieth century. The method tested was one developed by Paul Scott Wilson in his Imagination of the Heart. For the practicum two groups of lay people were recruited: one was to help the pastor develop three sermons and the other to evaluate them. The practicum discovered that Wilson's method is effective but is too involved to be used by most laity in a sermon preparation group. This project also showed that laity can be helpful in the sermon preparation and evaluation process.
