- Abstract
- This thesis explored how to preach sermons that enable people to know the Bible. From the preaching of eight sermons in a medium-sized RCA church in central New Jersey, the project identified elements that help people to learn Bible passages heretofore unknown to them, including a sermon style matching the genre of the text, re-contextualization, functional equivalence, and the passion of the preacher. The research was done with a small group who helped write and evaluate the effectiveness of the preaching by interviews and questionnaires.
