Abstrait

The purpose of this project was to equip selected adults to serve as personal mentors for high school students at Jackson Preparatory School in Jackson, Mississippi. The project director researched resources in the field of mentoring and youth culture and developed an annotated bibliography and a curriculum with the help of experts in the field of education. The director created the training curriculum used in a seven-session workshop with a selected group of adults who volunteered to serve as mentors at the request of student mentees. The curriculum for the workshop was developed with the guidance of professionals in the area of curriculum and instructional design. The effectiveness of the workshop was evaluated by multiple means including a pre-test, post-test, and a telephone questionnaire following the workshop.
