Abstract
  • Drawing on the ritual studies of Ronald Grimes, this project seeks to integrate ritual into the faith-sharing processes of small Christian communities. It proposes an understanding of ritual inclusive of non-traditional, newly formed, and experience-specific ritual expression. The project data, derived from two groups, each meeting for six sessions, supports the thesis that individuals are able to fashion and enact meaningful rituals expressive of shared experience and beliefs. Further, such ritual expression contributes to a holistic, personal and communal growth in faith. The experience invites continued reflection on authority and ritual leadership within Christian communities.
