  • Many participants in the Dallas Samil Korean Church congregation hesitate to demonstrate their decision to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior by coming publicly to the front of the church. The main reason for this appears to be cultural; a Korean cherishes his honor and tends to keep up appearances. The Korean term for this is che myun. To overcome this cultural barrier, the project leader developed the delayed-response invitation program. He projects this program to be a more effective invitation method for Korean people than the immediate-response invitation. The project involved evangelistic preaching, the project leader made an announcement that a class would start the following week for those interested in learning more about the Christian faith. Those who responded to such an invitation were connected automatically to a four-week teaching program. When this method was implemented at the Dallas Samil Korean Church, eighteen out of twenty participants became genuine Christians and were baptized as a result of the delayed-response invitation program.
