Abstract

The purpose of this project was to enhance the project director's skill in using expository preaching to address life crises at First Baptist Church of Lyman in Gulfport, Mississippi. The project involved preaching a series of expository sermons from selected narrative passages that address life crises. The messages emphasized biblical principles relevant to maintaining a kingdom focus during various life crises. The project director identified hermeneutical principles of preaching from narrative passages. The project director examined homiletical works and discovered common approaches to preaching narrative passages. The director developed and preached the sermons at First Baptist Church of Lyman in Gulfport, Mississippi. An expert evaluated the sermon manuscripts. The director recorded the sermon delivery on DVD. An expert in sermon delivery evaluated the recorded sermons.
