  • This project involves a biblical, theological, and historical study of the office of the ordained ministry in the Lutheran tradition. It analyzes present varied practices used by Lutheran churches to call their pastors, measures attitudes towards their practices, and suggests viable alternatives. The method of study involves an examination of the call-placement process used by six Christian churches in the United States. It also involves data from a sampling survey sent out to 450 Lutheran pastors and congregational presidents. The project concludes with two different recommendations as to a process the uniting Lutheran churches might develop for the new Lutheran Church.
