Abstract
  • The purpose of this project was to impact the counseling skills of a select group of seminarians at the Virginia Union University, by teaching the principles of formational counseling. The project included a quantitative and qualitative pre-test, post-test design that assessed knowledge, and awareness of the formational counseling model. The pre-test assessment showed students had little knowledge of formal counseling. Upon completing the semester long class, administering the post- test assessment revealed the success of this project. Students demonstrated significant increase in understanding the formational counseling model and their intentions to integrate these principles into their paradigm of pastoral counseling.
