Abstract
  • The central precepts of Orthodox Christian ecclesiology can be successfully taught to parish council members to foster leadership approaches that are more consistent with the nature and purpose of leadership in the Orthodox Church. The author created a seminar on Orthodox ecclesiology and presented it to nine parish priests who in turn instructed nine different groups of parish council members. Evaluative methods included surveys, field notes, and expert evaluations. There was sufficient data to suggest that the seminar had a positive impact on the participants' level of understanding regarding the characteristics and aims of leadership in an Orthodox Christian context.
