  • The author researched the power of Christian ministry to transform individual lives, through an examination of the particular ministry of the Reverend Maryann Downs. Rev. Downs was a pioneer clergywoman who served churches throughout the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Methodist Church. The author (the daughter of Rev. Downs) examined those distinctive qualities, skills and proficiencies which made her mother's ministry transformational. Using academic research and personal interviews, data was gathered which illuminated effective spiritual leadership, preaching, pastoral care, and how the ministry of a particular pastor had a transforming impact upon other lives.
