  • No place for the heart? restoring the affections in Reformed worship arises from a deep conviction that worship in the American Reformed and Presbyterian churches has gone terribly awry. In part one of this study, the author undertakes the task of examining the normative biblical, Reformed theological, and historical witnesses to affective Reformed worship. In the second portion of the study, recommendations are made to church leadership regarding the restoration of the affections by means of renewed perspectives on congregational and private prayer, preaching, the sacrament of the Lord's Supper, and congregational music and song.
