- A small group experience was designed at Fairview Community Church to enhance the spiritual formation and corporate renewal of members. The six group meetings included instruction in the spiritual disciplines of lectio divina, journal keeping and prayer; Bible study of Haggai; corporate prayer; and personal reflection. Fifteen participants in two groups (ten women and five men) ranged in age from twenties to eighties. Group participants demonstrated increased understanding and practice of spiritual disciplines, increased desire for involvement in spiritual community and increased frequency of prayer. Implications for continuing development of such groups are presented.
