Abstract
  • The author researched and developed a model discipleship process for local churches, primarily made up of African American members, who interact with others in the urban context. Clergy and lay members of African American congregations in the Oklahoma Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church were led in learning ways for framing the discipleship task, being a different kind of church, and implementing the disciple making process in the local church. Members of the participating congregations are trained and now all have the foundation of a discipleship system that can begin the revitalization process of our Oklahoma churches.
