  • The current research presented here describes literature dealing either directly or indirectly with school-age 'latch-key' children. Implications of this research are suggested as they relate to the following questions: are 'latch-key' children an at-risk population in the United States? If so, what are the factors that mitigate or have led to the phenomena? Are they any programs that address the needs of 'latch-key' children? Should the church have a response to the phenomena? It is argued that these and other questions need to be addressed if intervention is to take place. This paper includes one church's response to the 'latch-key' phenomena.
