Abstract
  • This study examined a method which incorporates personal narrative in the preparation of sermons. It is based on the view of Charles Rice and others that preaching reflects the interaction of the stories of God, the listener and the preacher. Eight parishoners met with the preacher weekly for ten weeks to share their stories and reflect together on the lectionary readings for the following Sunday. Participants reported motivation for listening to sermons and increased preparedness for worship. The preacher discovered a supportive preparedness for worship. The preacher discovered a supportive environment for sermon evaluation and an outline of a model of sermon preparation for future use.
