Abstract
  • The author's goal was to strengthen the social justice aspect of her ministry and the ministries of the two congregations she served. She led a workshop to familiarize people with the civic, activist, sanctuary and evangelistic mission orientations suggested in Varieties of Religious Presence, by Roozen, McKinney, Jackson Carroll. She was guided in self-reflection by Donald Schon's The Reflective Practicioner. The social action committees of both congregations became more integrated into the life of the churches. The urban church expanded its corporate involvement, but not the suburban congregation. The author experienced a shift of emphasis in her ministry from the mission orientation of the congregation to the ministry of individuals in their daily lives.
