  • This project enlists eight members of Saint John's Episcopal Church (Waterbury, Conn) to spend a year in designing a series of two-day retreats--'Emmaus Events'--to encourage and enable members of the parish to examine and expand their spiritual lives and their commitment to the community of faith. Drawing on Tex Sample's studies of American cultural groups and the practical theology of the Book of Common Prayer, the retreat design seeks to bring together a remarkably diverse parish and to deepen the faith and commitment of each member.
