- Abstract
- This project explored the impact that student service to the community can have on their social, moral and spiritual growth. The hypothesis was that learning from service is strengthened when students have opportunities for reflection. The project brought together high school students at Oregon Episcopal School in a workshop format to reflect on their service and its impact. The thesis concluded that learning from service is greatest when students engage directly with those who are different from themselves, in projects of sufficient intensity and duration that their assumptions are challenged and that they can see the impact of their work.
