- Abstract
- German churches are typically challenged to find successful models for evangelism and discipleship. This project considers how Sportvereine ('sport clubs') offer a promising gospel outreach ministry through community partnership and social networking. Could this gap be bridged? Survey findings revealed common obstacles; however, Kid's Games, Sola and Elebniscamp Kirche und Sport represented three separate models that met with a modicum of success closing the 'sacred-secular' gap. This was accomplished operating from a values-based platform. In some instances music activities were also incorporated into club programing, with intentional focus on the socially disadvantaged.
