This investigation is based on the need for a viable approach to a ministry of atonement in prison that emphasizes human responsibility in the transformation of negative experiences into agents of atonement. The approach utilizes two principles taken from the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) supplemented by five principles of William Glaser's Reality Therapy. It minimizes punishment as an expiating agent, a belief widely held by inmates.
