Abstrait

A pilot study investigated whether pastors in large congregations could do long term counseling without adversely affecting the pastor-member relationship. A survey questionnaire was adminsitered to clients in two separate congregations. The questionnaire sought to determine whether there were any changes in the long term working relationship betweens the pastors and the clients. A case study was also presented. The results were largely positive. Any negative effect was seen only in one client out of sixteen, and that client was still in counseling. The majority saw no effect or indicated improvement in the pastor-member relationship.
