- A biographical approach (from the inside) can develop congregational identity through pastoral leadership (from the outside). Typologies offer a structured way to analyze a congregation's identity. Historical research and survey instruments create a way to evalute a congregation's identity. Workshops on past, present, and future, along with group discussions, develop a congregation's identity. The results of the study show that congregations can create an accepted body of knowledge about themselves. In conclusion, this project provides a provisional paradigm for developing congregational identity worthy of further testing.
