  • The desire to revitalize Reformed worship in Presbyterian churches engenders ongoing debates. This project discusses some cultural issues underlying those debates and describes an experiment in seeking to revitalize Reformed worship through personal piety among church leaders within a particular congregation. Characteristics of culture and worship at the beginning of the twenty-first century are explored and contrasted with characteristics of Christian worship that intentionally seeks to embody an alternative culture. The practice of personal piety is proposed as a catalyst to worship services that glorify God, incarnate the Body of Christ as a prophetic reality, and form faithful disciples.
