The author's thesis was that worship as a communal experience would be more supportive of the ministry of the laity than hierarchical worship. Worship in seven congregations was analyzed according to its form and classified as hierarchical or communal. A questionnaire was used to discover the relationship between worship and ministry of the laity in each of the congregations. Although the thesis was not sustained in the research, it was evident that worship does make a difference, but other factors such as age, education, and work are also critical.
