- Abstract
- As the surrounding culture influences a local congregation, what the congregation says it believes will be more or less convergent with the theology actually expressed in their actions. The researcher interviewed a representative sample of the congregation for their perceptions of the explicit and implicit theologies of how decisions are made in the congregation. The interviews were analyzed by an advisory group of congregational leaders. They had been trained to examine their culture and its effect on their theology by using prayer, worship, and classic writings of the church, especially the Bible. The process affirmed the abilities of the group.
