  • This project defines the emotional and spiritual challenges that a congregation faces in relocating its facilities, designs a program of preparation to minimize the trauma of change while maximizing benefits to the congregation, and evaluates the program's effectiveness following the move. Based on biblical study and literature research, the project proposes three phases through which relocating organizations pass: the current zone, the transformation zone, and the future zone. A congregational survey and interviews with seven pastors of relocated churches identify spiritual and emotional issues in each phase and the tasks involved in resolving them. The project then designs, implements, and evaluates a program of 11 events to prepare a congregation to confront these issues.
