  • Many women who are childless feel rejected by the scriptures and misplaced in the church. They find little comfort and identification in scripture once they have given up the quest for children because in scripture the barren woman eventually receives God's blessing, conceives, and bears a child. This project reviews the situation of biblical women, the texts in which barren women appear, and the possibility of reframing the idea of barrenness in a way that is helpful and supportive. A survey of such women provides beneficial detail. The principles are useful for working toward resolution of any grief situation.
