- Abstract
- The purpose of this project was to enable selected leaders from the deacon body of Centreville Baptist Church to become caregivers in pastoral ministry during life crisis situations. The project sessions began with an introductory meeting to discuss what the classes would entail. The deacons then participated in six training sessions lasting one and one-half hours each. An eighth and final session was held to review and answer any questions that had arisen during the implementation of the project. The training materials for these sessions were developed to meet the specific needs of life crisis events in the Centreville community. The sessions consisted of studies as to the ways to minister during moments of death, grief recovery, substance abuse, teenage pregnancy, divorce recovery, and the sharing of faith during crisis.
