- Abstract
- Studies indicate older adults possess significant potential for continuing personal development, which, when supported by positive community attitudes, meaningful activities, and theological understanding, meet individual motivational needs and equip persons for a vital ministry to the world. This ministry is based on a theology for aging which gives attention to security, self-indulgence, stewardship, service, and spirituality. An older adult council was organized and trained to interview 148 older adults, finding them healthy, active, and affluent Christians claiming interesting, meaningful lives. They challenge church leadership to recognize their latent spiritual power, strengthen current ministries, and develop new opportunities for service.
